Broken and the Blessed, Lent Day 12

by David Joynt on March 12, 2017

SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT

DAY 12

JONAH 1:1-3 | PSALM 139:1-12

Jonah was a runaway preacher! Assigned to preach to Nineveh by the God of the Universe, he took the first boat to Tarshish. How can you run from Providence?

As the psalmist writes so beautifully—“Where could I escape from you, Lord? Where could I flee from your presence—if I were to take the wings of the morning and settle at the outermost limits of the sea—even there your hand shall hold me!”

Psalm 139 stresses God discerns our thoughts—before a word is on our tongue, the Lord knows it. How foolish to think you can escape from God, who inhabits every space in creation—even the space within our consciousness.

Have you ever tried to run from God?

FAMILY TIME:

What does privacy mean to you?

Why is it important?
