Leading With People in Your Heart: Day 5

How acute is your moral imagination? Find someone in your life today and give it a workout! Notice in our scripture how Jesus saw something as brave which others understood as sneaky. He understood the woman’s burdens.

Leading With People in Your Heart: Day 5

If you want to lead with others in your heart, work on your moral imagination. This is the capacity to look at life from the point of view of another person, taking on board some of their unique burdens, background, and beliefs. There is often a great deal that lies behind the flawed attitudes and behavior of others. Why is someone anxious? Short-tempered? Lacking drive?

It is hard to know how to help, bless, or encourage another person unless we have moral imagination. Movies and novels, with real characters, can help us practice this ability. So can careful questions or just the practice of trying to articulate someone else’s perspective.

How acute is your moral imagination?

Find someone in your life today and give it a workout!

Notice in our scripture how Jesus saw something as brave which others understood as sneaky. He understood the woman’s burdens.
