Questions Week 12, Day 2

by David Joynt on July 17, 2017

ISAIAH 40:8

One of the reasons I trust the Bible is relational. I know so many wonderful and brilliant people who trust the Bible and follow its guidance. My brilliant professor in college, Dr. Doug Feaver, was an expert in Hellenistic life and language and also held scripture as a sacred gift. Two of my favorite philosophers, John Hare and Basil Mitchell, were similarly committed to the Bible. So many great scientists, like John Polkinghorne, and great social reformers like Martin Luther King and William Wilberforce, entrusted their lives to the truths they learned within the Old and New Testaments. My best colleagues, my most admirable friends, my parents, and my wife—I’m surrounded by people who find the Bible to be worthy of trust and obedience.
