The Originals, Week 4, Day 7

by David Joynt on February 03, 2018

MATTHEW 1

Matthew the man and tax collector was as alienated from a true
Jewish life as it was possible to be. Yet Matthew, the Christ
follower and Gospel writer, has a profound sense of the deep
connections between what God had done in Jesus and the story of
the chosen people. He gives us the genealogies, he relates Jesus'
commands to the Torah or Old Testament law, he sees our Lord's
life as a fulfillment of the prophet's hopes and Israel's history.

Every disciple that loves Jesus becomes a part of that story, like a
younger brother adopted into an existing family.

Do you feel a connection to the story of Israel?

What part of the Old Testament is your favorite?

Which portion do you feel called to explore?
