The Originals, Week 6, Day 3

by David Joynt on February 13, 2018

MATTHEW 13:54-58

It is quite possible to be too close to see. When you are 10 feet
from the Empire State Building, you can't appreciate its height or
architecture. I grew up in Bethlehem, but really didn't take a
Christmas City tour until I was in my thirties. Growing up there,
it was just my hometown and not a special place to visit with
tourist attractions. David's brothers didn't see his potential or
understand his courage and leadership. Similarly, James must not
have appreciated that his own brother was the Messiah, the Son of
God.

At one point, he and the family even try to bring a halt to Jesus'
ministry. A prophet is rarely honored in his home or family.

Is there someone close to you whose true virtues you are not
seeing?

Have you ever been misunderstood or underestimated by
someone close to you?
