The Upside Down World, Week 11, Day 3

by David Joynt on November 21, 2017

 LUKE 11:7

Let’s reverse the equation. Would your friends feel free to wake you up at 1 am? Would they be able to share their genuine needs with you?

This parable encourages us to ask ourselves whether we are go-to people for others. What signal do we send when someone shares a need? Perhaps we get nervous, perhaps we communicate that their need, with its implied request, is an unwelcome burden.

The key is paying attention to others and sending a clear message of interest and concern. When needs arise, our responses can be immediate and joyful, and the person we bless does not sense they have become an inconvenience or an interruption.

How interruptible are you?

What signals do you send when you sense or see someone’s need?

FAMILY TIME— Celebrate a moment when a member of your family helped another member. What made it special in their action and attitude?
