COMMUNITY GROUPS

Do you want to grow deeper in relationship with Jesus while you connect with other Christians?

If so, joining a Community Group is perfect for you!

Our small groups meet at various times throughout the month to study God’s word and encourage each other to live it out loud. Because the groups are loosely divided by age, participants have the opportunity to build authentic relationships and find care and support. Each group is open to singles and couples, with or without children.

Occasionally people will find that a particular group just "works" for them even though they aren't in the general age range. We invite you to try a few groups and find the one that's works for you.

40s and 50s Kaleidoscope Community Group

Exodus Study
Sundays, August 13-September 3, 9-10AM, Room 409

We are going to start a four week class on Exodus. The class will  prepare our hearts for the year ahead by going on a journey that will lead us to God’s tabernacle within us. This four week study will comprise four themes.  As you read Exodus, try to read it through new eyes without regard to how these events have been portrayed in movies, television, or Sunday school or Adult Ed classes. See if you pick up new things or reconsider old notions.

For more information on this Community Group email Pastor David Turner or call 480-991-6424 ext. 121. To join our group on Facebook email Beth Allen.

August 13             Study 1: "Captivity/Freedom"

August 20            Study 2: “Trust and Dependence on God”

August 27           Study 3: “A new relationship with God”

September 3      Study 4: “God in our life”

Hike-West Fork Trail in Oak Creek

Saturday, August 26
Time TBD, Carpool

No time has been set, yet, but we will carpool and leave pretty early since it is a ways away. This is a beautiful trail that is very modest in difficulty. The trail is about 3.5 miles each way, but there is no requirement that the trail be fully trod – it is very easy to stop earlier and enjoy the surroundings. We might split into two groups so that those who want to do the entire trail can, and those who want to take a more leisurely approach can do so as well. Invite friends and family as it is one of the of the most pleasant places in the state in which to spend time. We’ll have more info and a sign-up sheet on Sunday or email Ed Glady with questions.

Community Dinner

Saturday, September 16
6PM, Turners House

Stacy Turner has volunteered to make the entrée, and it is up to us to bring delicious appetizers, salads, desserts and perhaps some beverages. This is our chance to get back together after a summer apart. Invite your friends! We’ll have a sign-up sheet on Sunday or email Ed Glady with questions.

Family Promise Host Night

Saturday, October 7
VPC Campus

Finally, our community hosts a dinner and provides fellowship for the Family Promise families we are blessed to have on campus. These families are currently in a tough spot with no living arrangements and little financial resources. Family Promise organizes a network of churches that each provide a week of housing, food and fellowship to families who find themselves in these tough situations. Our community hosts a dinner and fellowship time the last night of the week these families spend on our church campus. Our next night of food and fellowship for Family Promise families is Saturday, October 7.
