The VPC Session is made up of 18 Elders, members of the congregation who have heard God's call to lead. Each Elder serves a three-year term, and is assigned to work on one of our Session Committees—Congregational Care and Fellowship, Discipleship and Spiritual Growth, Children and Youth, Finance and Operations, Mission, Outreach, Planning and Organization, Stewardship, and Worship. Session meets monthly to help guide VPC in the direction God is leading. It works with VPC staff to create events, programs, experiences, and worship services.

Doug Eaton | Family Ministry Committee
My wife Kelly and I  are new members at VPC, but faith and church have been constants in my life since childhood. I was raised in a deeply faithful home and saw the blessings of a life in Christ in that upbringing. Kelly and I have been married 25 years, we have three post-high school age daughters. I had been involved in Young Life and have a vital interest in youth ministry. I love contemporary worship music and traditions, especially at VPC.

Tom Hillman | Mission Committee
I have been a member of VPC since 1989. Over the years, I have been involved with VPC in a number of ways: teaching Sunday School in the early 1990s, being engaged with the children and youth programs via our two daughters. From Sunday School, VBS, and summer camps to helping with the Men’s breakfasts and retreats, I look forward to a new and different opportunity with VPC as an Elder.

I have served on various committees such as the All-Church Nominating Committee and the Stewardship Committee. I look forward to applying my knowledge of the church in my role as an elder.

Sam Kelsall | Finance and Operations Committee
I have been a member of VPC since 1998. In that time I’ve served as trustee of the Valley Presbyterian Foundation, and served as President of VPF for two years. I started the Foundation’s Legacy Dinner, and currently serve as it's Director of Development. I’ll serve on any group that promotes gardening in South Phoenix. I strongly believe in teaching people to fish rather than handing out fish.

Kirby Kongable | Stewardship Committee
I was a lawyer for 17 years in Yuma, AZ. I have been a Superior Court Judge in Yuma for 11 years and a Superior Court Commissioner for Maricopa County for 9 years, and am now retired. While in Yuma, I was a member of the Session at my church there. My wife, Donna, and I became members of VPC in 2006. I served one term as deacon at VPC, as well.

Larry Linkin | Worship Committee
I have a deep love of music and worship. Just like “The Music Man,” I sold band instruments, learning along the way how to play the clarinet, which I continue to do with a passion. My love of music gives voice to my deep, abiding faith in both vocal and instrumental song. I am deeply committed to our church’s music ministry and worship traditions, and hope my time in leadership will glorify God and help our church reach new heights reflecting God in all we do.
