Ringing in 2022

by Tina Gilbreath on January 25, 2022

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The bible is full of amazing wisdom and words that pierce my heart. Two scripture verses that are calling to me in this season are Isaiah 7:3/Matthew 1:23 and Isaiah 43:19.
Matthew 1:23 “Behold, the virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel” (which means, “God with us”).
We celebrate the coming of Jesus as a baby at Christmas and with it the reminder that God is with us today, tomorrow and forever. What an encouraging reminder when we struggle, or celebrate.
This has been a challenging couple of years to say the least. It has definitely pushed all of us to the limits of our patience and tolerance. Yet with time and space to reflect there have been so many blessings, and a spirit of gratitude and trust that our savior is "God with us" can give us strength to continue. The prophet Isaiah also tells us
“Behold, I will do something new, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:19
As Christians, with the ringing in of 2022, a new year, this verse is a great reminder of the new things God is doing in us, in our world…even in the wilderness.
How will you respond to this opportunity as a family?

Sunday School is for everyone

The new year is a great time to recommit to growing in faith, and not just for the kids. As adults we can benefit from regular bible study, worship, and fellowship just as much as our children. Make plans to join us on Sunday mornings or Oasis Wednesdays where there is something for the whole family. Have to miss a day? No problem we have lots of recorded and live stream material. Check out the online options or register your kids at vpc.church.
