A New Heart for the Valley Week 1, Day 7

A NEW HEART FOR THE VALLEY

 

JOHN 4:39-42

 

New hearts lead to new opportunities and set off new chains of causal events. The Samaritan woman draws others to Jesus, and many come to believe, developing an independent and direct sense that he is not only the Messiah, but “the Savior of the World.”

 

Isn’t it exciting to think that your personal renewal is more than an end in itself? It will have Kingdom impacts beyond what you could ever imagine.

 

 

After this week, has your longing for a new heart grown?

 

Pray for one.

What could have undermined the woman’s testimony and made people dismiss her?

Yet notice the results.

Talk about how God can use us despite our flaws.

Dave Joynt began his service as a pastor at Valley Presbyterian Church in Paradise Valley, Arizona in September 2014. This meant a move away from the Northeast, where he has a long history, growing up in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and then serving congregations in Delaware and New Jersey for a total of 23 years.

Dave was nurtured in a great church in Bethlehem where his parents, Anne and Carey, served as elders. He graduated in classics from Lehigh University where his Father taught, and then from Oxford, where he met his wife Julia. Ordained in 1988, he completed a Ph.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1993.

He and Julia have a son, Tristan, and a daughter, Madeleine.
