Advent Week 1: The Way of Waiting, Day 2

Read some of these passages. What do you make of these divisions?

DIVISION

MATTHEW 25:2

There are two kinds of Christians, just as in this parable there are two kinds of waiting bridesmaids. One kind is wise and one foolish. This division is everywhere in Jesus' teaching. In the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 7:13-27, we are told; some enter the narrow gate leading to life and some go the broad way leading to destruction; some are like fruitful trees and some like barren ones, destined for the fireplace; some know Jesus' name, but are strangers to Him; some build their houses on rock and others on soon-to-be swept away sand. There are two kinds of soils (Matthew 13:23), two kinds of seeds (Matthew 13:24-30), two kinds of sons, two kinds of farmers, two kinds of wedding guests (Matthew 21:28-22:14). There are sheep and there are goats. (Matthew 25:31-46) When Jesus returns, these divisions and differences will become evident and lead to different fates. Jesus' first arrival was intended to reconcile the whole world to God, but his  second will be as our Judge.

What do you make of these divisions?
