All You Need is Love Daily Devotional -34

by David Joynt on May 14, 2021

1 CORINTHIANS 13:7 | Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

To be long suffering is not the same as being a victim. A victim suffers unwillingly and for the sake of justice must often resist an evildoer. Some things should not be borne. A long-sufferer chooses to endure something for love’s sake—suffering varies and is different for different people. To forego music is hard for anyone, to let it go for a musician is far worse. The causes and intensity of emotional pain vary, depending on our personalities and past experiences. The first experience of loss is different than the second one, and each experience is colored by the particular relationship that is ended, as well as whether the loss occurs because of betrayal, circumstance, or death. All suffering shares a common theme—going through something we don’t want to go through.

When have you suffered?

How did you endure?
