Body Building Daily Devotional - 61

by David Joynt on November 11, 2021

DEUTERONOMY 6:4-5 | Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.

These are two of the most important verses in the scriptures and Jesus saw them as central to the spiritual life. They summarize the entire law, along with the social command to love neighbors (see Leviticus 19:18 and Matthew 22:37-40). To love God with total devotion involves every aspect of who we are: our hearts, souls, minds, and our strength. This verse suggests that we must not divide our lives into unrelated sections, such as work, hobbies,      and religious practices. No part of our lives or ourselves must be unrelated to God. No areas of the inner life can be carved out as separate, and then devoted to some ungodly satisfaction, some unholy quest, some pet obsession.

Do you ever compartmentalize your faith?

How is your faith and love for God related to your hobbies,
vocation, and family life?
