Broken and the Blessed Week 1, Day 6

by David Joynt on January 13, 2017

DAY 6

GENESIS 3 continued

The Genesis story shows Adam and Eve engaged in disobedience. They begin to doubt God’s intent for them and see his instructions as a limitation, rather than a protection. This doubt is not based on anything real, for God has blessed and loved them. Soon they are hiding from Him, feeling shame and guilt. They’ve spoiled their intimacy with God and are full of blame for one another. The good gift of work becomes less creative and more burdensome. There is discomfort and confusion within and between them. Yet as the biblical story unfolds God is determined to bless his children in the midst of their brokenness.

Who is your favorite biblical character, apart from Jesus?

How realistically does the bible portray his or her brokenness?

FAMILY TIME—

Can you remember a beautiful family trip or outing that just went wrong? What happened?
