Broken and the Blessed Week 6, Day 4

by David Joynt on February 15, 2017

DAY 39

EPHESIANS 4:17-24

Purity is a gift and a struggle. One of the things which complicates the struggle for purity is the simple, and at times overwhelming, fact that our culture does not value purity. American popular culture, in the form of books, movies, television, education, and general commentary, seems almost universally to value sensual experience and self-indulgence. The only reason to forego a pleasure, temporarily, might be to achieve another primary goal, like competing and winning an athletic contest. Otherwise, we have become a common culture that places no value on purity for its own sake, let alone as a means for moving toward spiritual depth or growth.

Who do you know that has a pure heart?

How can you tell?

FAMILY TIME:

How does your family protect the minds and hearts of its members from images and ideas that degrade?

Discuss.
