Matthew 2:13 | 13 Now after they had left, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joesph in a dream and said, “Get up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is about to search for the child, to destroy him.”
Joseph’s obedience and marriage to Mary ended his quiet life in a Galilean village. He was dragged to Bethlehem to act as a midwife while Mary gave birth in a stable. He was thrust into the dangerous world of the first century politics, when the ruthless Herod decided to destroy his son lest he grow to be a rival. He encounters wise men from foreign countries and had to save his family from death by fleeing to Egypt as a refugee. Displaced, Joseph had to sustain his family until the evil Herod had died. Yet all this trauma and trouble made Joseph a key player in the world’s greatest story. His son changed the world and revealed the Kingdom of God.

Help us to be faithful, trusting that our ordinary lives and small problems can be used to glorify you and advance your purposes. Amen.
