Divine Imperatives August 25 Devotional

by David Joynt on August 25, 2023

MATTHEW 5:15 | 15 People do not light a lamp and put it  under the bushel basket; rather, they put it on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house.

There are some situations where faith must be kept private or  practiced underground. There are still many places in our world, like China, where Christianity is viewed as a threat to authoritarian regimes—which it is! Many governments in Muslim countries make conversion illegal, like Iran. In these situations, public witness and practice can be impossible and followers must be very wise and careful about sharing their beliefs. But in most other settings, we can be free to acknowledge our Lord and Savior, trusting that He can use us to demonstrate His truth and love and mercy to others in this world.

Pray for the underground and persecuted churches in our world.

Gracious God,

Use my life for Your glory. Show others something of Your love and goodness through me. Help me to speak as opportunities arise and to have an example that speaks without words.

Amen.
