Divine Imperatives November 22 Devotional

by David Joynt on November 22, 2023

MATTHEW 7:25 | 25 The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fail, because it had been founded on rock.

Water and wind are powerful forces, carving at canyons that are Grand, and shaping the seas and the mountains. Jesus the realist describes the way wind and rain and floods can powerfully disrupt and destroy dwellings. I’ve seen this up close in a hurricane and superstorm. Life’s storms are just as potent—diseases, losses, economic reverses, wars and conflicts, disasters natural and historical—they all can destroy lives. But there is something that outlasts every storm—Jesus’ words and the life they bring to us. Either this is a crazy claim made by a crazy person, or the key to ultimate security and safety.

Have you ever been in a giant storm?

Gracious God,

Thank you for establishing an unshakeable rock in our lives, a living Lord whose life is unconquerable, and whose wisdom can never become outdated, irrelevant or untrue.

Amen.
