Divine Imperatives October 24 Devotional

MATTHEW 6:21 | ²¹ For where you treasure is, there your heart will be also.

This teaching on accumulating treasure, is intensely practical, it saves us from an ultimately futile endeavor. It is also a deeply spiritual and psychological instruction because our lives and passions shape our identities. The danger of focusing too much on acquisition is not merely the possibility of loss — it is  the certainty of becoming a shallow materialist! What we seek and value changes who we are in fundamental ways. Worshipping the wrong things reduces our capacity to love the right things and to value and serve God and others as beings of infinite worth and sacred character.
