Easter Hearts, Week 4, Day 1

WEEK 4 | “COMMISSIONED HEARTS”

WEEK 4 | “COMMISSIONED HEARTS”

 JOHN 21:1-2

The gospels are polemical. They have a point of view. They are written, as John asserts, not as historical curiosities or amusing accounts, but with the purpose of helping readers “come to believe.” But this purpose does not imply they are propaganda, that is to say accounts made up to convince us of things that are unsupported or untrue. These first two verses describe a real location and a particular company, who are named and identified. The fact John states his purpose in writing his account, in my mind, supports its reliability. Propagandists hide their true motivation lest it be seen to prejudice their perspectives.

Which is your favorite gospel? Why?

Which Resurrection appearance is most powerful for you?

FAMILY TIME—

When have you been by the seaside or lakeshore?

How is it different than our desert home?
