Everyday Saints Devotional 21

by David Joynt on January 22, 2022

ROMANS 12 :13 | 13 Contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers.

2 THESSALONIANS 3:8 | 8 and we did not eat anyone's bread without paying for it; but with toil and labor we worked night and day, so that we might not burden any of you.

Paul’s encouragement of hospitality to friends also includes strangers, as we learn from this verse. But he was careful not to abuse the hospitality practices which he encouraged. Always
grateful for support, and recognizing the sacredness of honoring guests, he did not see hospitality practices as unlimited gift cards. He worked to support himself rather than accept completed
dependence on others. Sponging, or exploiting other’s generosity, was ruled out.

Has anyone exhausted your hospitality?
