Faithful: Faith Shares, Day 18

LUKE 8:1-3 | Soon afterwards he went on through cities and villages, proclaiming and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. The twelve were with him, as well as some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, and Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward Chuza, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them out of their resources.

Acts of generosity often require faith. When you offer a gift of time, money, or help to someone, you must trust that your offer will be received and that the gift given will make a difference. Gifts of talent or treasure empower others to act, and the giver must have faith the action will occur and will be a blessing. When we address problems like homelessness or violence or poverty, we must have faith that the world can change and the Kingdom come. It is by faith we see hurts healed before they are cured, and problems solved before they are addressed. We invest by faith.

It is important that we trust wisely when we are generous. Strategic investment that builds the Kingdom is what God honors. Do you agree?

What is your criteria for wise and faithful generosity?

Thank God for the women who were “early investors” in Jesus’ ministry.
