Growing Joy May 10 Devotional

by David Joynt on May 10, 2023

PHILIPPIANS 1:6 | I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work in you will continue to complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

This conviction is fundamental to the very way Paul relates to fellow Christians and ministry partners. He works hard to equip and teach his churches, but he knows God is doing the restoring and transforming. This basic confidence, that our Father is renewing us and His whole creation, prevents us being buffeted by the ups and downs of church life, and the sometimes unsteady process of sanctification in others and ourselves. God is ultimately responsible for helping us move from one level of “glory into glory,” despite our missteps and misunderstandings. This confidence permeates all of Paul’s letters. He believed with all his heart that though we see now dimly, as in a mirror, someday we will see face to face, and we will know as we’ve been known. For him, final progress to complete fulfillment and holiness was unstoppable.

How much confidence do you have in God’s ability to make us whole, new, and glorious?

Gracious God,

Let not our hearts be troubled! Give us unshakable confidence in Your power to restore and renew us.

Amen.
