Leading With a Committed Heart: Day 5

EPHESIANS 6:10-12

The committed heart is crucial in every hard endeavor, and most valuable endeavors are hard ones. This is true with the democratic experiments in nations around the world, because developing the rule of law, constraining tyrants and oligarchs, and building free and fair institutions takes generations. It is true in scientific work, where often it takes years of failed experiments and dead ends to yield breakthrough discoveries.

It is most certainly true in the work of the church, which focuses on changing the most stubborn aspects of the human heart, and the most broken elements in the human experience. Fortunately, in politics, science, and especially faith, we are links in a chain of committed people. In fact, as Christians, we are links in the greatest chain—the one connecting heaven and earth.
