Pray Without Ceasing, Week 9, Day 62

by David Joynt on August 02, 2019

PSALM 1:4-5 | The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

MATTHEW 3:12 | His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor and will gather his wheat into the granary; but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.

MATTHEW 5:13 | You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything, but is thrown out and trampled under foot.

MATTHEW 7:13-14, 27 | Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road is easy that leads to destruction, and there are many who take it. For the gate is narrow and the road is hard that leads to life, and there are few who find it.
The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell—and great was its fall!

Warnings are part of life. Warnings on fences about trespassing or toxic land. Warnings near cliffs about dangerous drops. Warnings on labels of food products about unhealthy ingredients. Psalm 1 concludes with warnings. John the Baptist issued warnings too, and so did Jesus. The bible teaches that choices have consequences, for they shape character and determine destinies. Warnings move us toward life and health.

Read the verses from Matthew and compare them with Psalm 1. What do you notice?
What warnings have you found to be valid in your life?
