Questions Week 12, Day 5

July 20, 2017

PSALM 88:8-18

The Bible encourages my trust in other way also. It is not written in an irenic or self-serving way, as so much religious and autobiographical literature often is.  Powerful people hire others to write books about their lives that are full of praise, excluding opinions or incidents that are unflattering. This is called hagiography. God is the most powerful person in the universe, but His autobiography, the Bible, is honest and authentic. It includes criticisms of God, harangues against God, fierce questions posed to God—and an unfailingly realistic and clear depiction of life’s troubles and anxieties.

Think about God’s willingness to allow the Bible to portray his character.

How does today’s passage question God?

Have you ever prayed the way the psalmist did today?

FAMILY TIME—
