Sonlight, Day 8

MARK 8:22 | They came to Bethsaida. Some people brought a blind man to him and begged him to touch him.

MATTHEW 7:3-5 | Why do you see the speck in your neighbor’s eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye?  Or how can you say to your neighbor, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ while the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbor’s eye.

Some people have 20/20 vision. But I am not one of them! Reading glasses help me with fine print and, although my distance vision is ok, it is not perfect. In the spiritual and social realm, no one has 20/20 vision. Spiritually, all of us have blind spots and astigmatisms. We focus nearby and miss the big picture. We look into the distance and miss things right in front of us. We see the surface of things and miss the depths.

Physical blindness is a condition in some people, like the blind man in Bethsaida—spiritual blindness affects every single person. Particularly with respect to our own issues, we don't see clearly. In relationship with Jesus, we experience a clearer way of seeing reality and ourselves.

When was the last time God showed you a new truth about yourself?

What things do you have trouble seeing?
