Sonlight, Day 9

Sonlight, Day 9

MARK 8:23-25 | He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village; and when he had put saliva on his eyes and laid his hands on him, he asked him, “Can you see anything?”  And the man looked up and said, “I can see people, but they look like trees, walking.” Then Jesus laid his hands on his eyes again; and he looked intently and his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.

This healing story is unique in the Gospels because it happens in stages. Jesus places saliva on the blind man's eyes and his vision returns partially. Under questioning, he describes it this way: “I see people, like trees, walking." After a second touch from Jesus, sight is fully restored.

In our lives, enlightenment is often a process with stages, not just one moment of inspiration. Life with Jesus means seeking a clearer picture of the people around us from the one with perfect vision. God sees everything about everyone at all times in all places with absolute clarity. We see a little about a few at one time in a single place with a lack of clarity.

Is your vision of others around you clarifying day by day?

Pray that it will.
