JOHN 16:33 | 33 I have said this to you, so that in me you may have peace. In the world you face persecution. But take courage; I have conquered the world.
“Though this world, with devils filled,
Should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed
His truth to triumph through us.
Our age is one of mass deceptions and confusion. Social media can touch billions of people with half truths and outright lies in minutes. Malign forces, from terrorist movements to authoritarian governments to unhinged individuals try to deceive and delude. But God has willed his truth to triumph through us.
Luther’s rediscovery of grace, the strange righteousness of Christ offered to the underserving, was a truth that did triumph. It generated the entire Protestant movement and eventually came to influence the Catholic understanding of salvation. Truth liberates and empowers us and eventually it will triumph through the growth and spread of God’s kingdom.

Gracious God,
Your son did not coerce allegiance. He used the power of truth and love to convert and galvanize. Help us follow his example.
