 JOHN MARK: DANGEROUS OPPORTUNITY

ACTS 13:44-52

Mark's undoubted anxiety about the proposed trip with Paul was
based on real issues. The Jewish communities in Gentile areas
were likely to be hostile to the Gospel, the Jerusalem church was
somewhat divided about the enterprise, and as we have been
saying, there were no precedents.

Yet what an opportunity he faced. Paul was a brilliant scholar of
the Torah and would author a large portion of what we know as
the New Testament. Mark had a chance to see God do the
greatest "new thing" since the calling of Israel as his chosen
people. He was being given a ringside seat in the first mission
movement. (See the opportunity and danger in today's passage.)

When has God opened a great opportunity for you?

How did you balance risks and potential rewards?
