The Upside Down World, Week 4, Day 7
by David Joynt on October 07, 2017
When we withhold forgiveness, there is an immense sense, briefly, of great power. No one can compel us to forgive another person. With respect to our forgiveness, we are utterly and completely sovereign and our will is supreme.
However, we do not rule over the will of our King. He considers our parsimony, our truculence, our lack of forgiveness, as criminal. It vitiates his mercy, it breaks the chain of grace, and it results in our own judgement. Moreover, we are psychologically and spiritually diminished. We are less free in taking risks with others. We must spend emotional energy withholding our regard and support. And we put ourselves into the role of implacable judge or wounded victim. Both roles limit us. We miss the incredible “lightness of being” God wants us to enjoy.
Do an inventory and see if there is anyone you need to forgive.
FAMILY TIME—
Make a circular chain by holding hands and talk about the chain of grace.
