The Upside Down World Week 8, Day 2

by David Joynt on October 30, 2017

 MATTHEW 20:3-9

There is something very compelling about the vineyard owner’s decision to hire part-day workers and to pay full wages to them. One thing that impresses me about this unexpected largesse is that it shows us a boss who is sensitive to the plight of his workers. One tenth or one quarter or even half a days’ wages would not have sustained the needs of a single individual, let alone a family. Day laborers are vulnerable. They almost never have savings or secondary sources of income—when they don’t work, they don’t eat. The owner cares about them. Pray for all the people for whom each day is a survival test.

FAMILY TIME— Explain the struggles of those people who must resort to “casual labor.
