I CHRONICLES 29:1, 15| 1 King David said to the whole
assembly, “My son Solomon, whom alone God has chosen, is young and inexperienced, and the work is great; for the temple
will not be for mortals but for the Lord God.

15 For we are aliens and transients before you, as were all our ancestors; our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no hope.

Generosity begins with a grateful attitude and a recognition that all I have is a blessing from God. It continues with a recognition that my generosity is crucial for the flourishing of others.

The road you build others can travel. The discovery you make others can benefit from. The enemy you defeat will not plague a neighbor. The problem you solve will not occupy the next generation. The foundation you build will allow someone else to construct something new and beautiful.

David realizes his time, like all of our times, is transitional, a time that leads to another time, which will belong to others—in this case to Solomon. So he decides to help his son with the task of building a temple for God’s people in Jerusalem.

Whose generosity has helped you?

Have you made transition plans to bless others?
