World Changing Words Devotional-Day 15

JEREMIAH 31:31 | 31 The days are surely coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah.

The exile was traumatic for the Israelites. They’d seen their cousins in the northern kingdom subjugated by the Assyrians and then absorbed and eliminated from the stage of history. Their own rebellion had led to the sacking of Jerusalem, the desecration of the Temple, and the capture and exile of the King and his court. Dismayed by deportation and disoriented by the destruction of their religious and political parties, they were at an inflection point.

It was then that Jeremiah began to speak. It was then that Israel entered one of the most creative times in its long history. One of the marks of this time was a longing for a new kind of relationship with God, new terms and a new covenant.

Have you ever felt like you were in exile?

Have you ever longed for a new relationship with God?
