World Changing Words Devotional-Day 19

by David Joynt on August 20, 2020

JEREMIAH 31:32 | 32 It will not be like the covenant that I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt—a covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, says the Lord.

Jeremiah’s prayer and prediction of a new covenant was also a   longing for a renewed intimacy with God. The original covenant was broken and one-sided. God pledged fidelity to Israel but they followed other gods, set other priorities, and pursued their own ends. Like a straying spouse, they spoiled the trust and intimacy that can happen when promises are kept well and truly.

When we break covenant with God or others, this longing for a renewed intimacy should be the cry of our hearts.

Have you ever renewed a broken relationship?

 What did this require?
