World Changing Words Devotional-Day 56

by David Joynt on September 26, 2020

Matthew 19:29-30 | 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields, for my name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life. 30 But many who are first will be last, and the last will be first.

My father used to say “Son, you can’t outgive God!” He and Mom tithed their income to our home church and gave beyond that to special Kingdom causes. I never once heard them argue about money or stress about resources or express unfulfilled longings for great earnings. Despite my Dad’s small income as a professor they did not view giving as a grim duty, but rather as joyous way to invest in the only thing that lasts, God’s Kingdom.

Jesus never makes an idle promise, and he taught his disciples to expect that faithfulness and generosity and sacrifice now, would lead to dramatic rewards in the coming life.

 Who taught you generosity?

 Who are you teaching?
