Here and Beyond Devo Nov 11

by David Joynt on November 11, 2022

1 CORINTHIANS 15:42-49 | 42 So it is with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. 43 It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. 44 It is sown a physical body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a physical body, there is also a spiritual body. 45 Thus it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living being”; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 46 But it is not the spiritual that is first but the physical and then the spiritual. 47 The first man was from the earth, made of dust; the second man is from heaven. 48 As one of dust, so are those who are of the dust, and as one of heaven, so are those who are of heaven. 49 Just as we have borne the image of the one of dust, we will also bear the image of the one of heaven.

MATTHEW 8:11 | 11 I tell you, many will come from east and west and will take their places at the banquet with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.

Relationships formed here on earth will continue beyond our earthly lives! When we commit a loved one into God’s hands there is a pause in the relationship. We remain connected by emotion and memory and also through the Communion of Saints. This communion exists because departed disciples are joined to Christ through the Holy Spirit and so are earthly disciples. When Jesus returns and the earth is restored and renewed, His people will live a new kind of life, with resurrection bodies that cannot age or decline. Then the pause in relationships is over and there will be a great reunion, a celebration without any barriers inhibiting love and understanding.

What has been your greatest reunion moment?

Who have you entrusted into God’s care?
