Questions Week 11 Day 1

by David Joynt on July 09, 2017

WHAT ABOUT UNANSWERED PRAYERS?

MATTHEW 6:9-13

Why do you pray? One reason, broadly speaking, is that you want the world to change and God’s Kingdom to come. This part of prayer is encouraged by Jesus who taught us to say “Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed by thy name, thy kingdom come and thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” It takes the form of petitions, or requests, for God to act and to empower his people to act, both materially and spiritually: “give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors, and lead us around temptation.” It is the petition part of prayer that leads to the question of the week about unanswered prayer. But it is wise to remember that petitions are only one part of prayer.
