Questions Week 11, Day 4

by David Joynt on July 12, 2017

PSALM 66

Thus prayer can be an opportunity for change, in our perspectives and in ourselves. The Lord’s Prayer begins with “praise and thanksgiving,” acknowledging God as our Father, and referencing His rule (who art in heaven) and His majestic character and mighty deeds (hallowed by thy Name). God’s name, in scripture, is short for His person and nature, as we know it through His commands and His acts of mercy, love, and judgement. The Lord’s Prayer is a prayer of headings, or an outline, inviting us to fill in the sections.

Beginning our time with praise and thanksgiving clears out the channels of our hearts so we can receive God’s guidance and blessing. In order to become people of faith and gratitude, we must express these elements!

How much time do you spend thanking and praising God?

Read our Psalm.  IF you wrote one like this today what would you include in your list of praiseworthy deeds?

FAMILY TIME—

Make a list of things to praise and thank for today.

Use it for a collective prayer.
