Sensitivity is important, because if we don’t feel grieved by things that are unfair or offensive, we become hardened and callous. But sensitivity is not character. Character is a matter of settled disposition, or habits, that consistently shape our decision, actions, and attitudes. Our Galatians passage describes the exciting reality that rightful reactions can become permanent features of our personalities. We actually change and become new people whose characters are more like Christ. The Holy Spirit is given to help us become new people.
