The Upside Down World, Week 11, Day 4

by David Joynt on November 22, 2017

LUKE 11:7-8

This parable has a tongue-in-cheek quality. In the Middle Eastern cultural context, everyone jumps out of bed at the neighbor’s knock, and no one says “Go away, the family is settled for the night!” Such behavior would be shocking and culpable. Jesus is contrasting our behavior with that of our heavenly Father. If we understand how to be hospitable, does God not know how to respond to our needs? God is not like a callus friend too lazy to help us, who only responds if we threaten to wake up the children and ring the door bell all night. He is eager to help and bless us!

Do you underestimate God?

Does that effect how you pray?
