VPC 2.0 Daily Devotional-45

by David Joynt on November 17, 2020

ACTS 2:43 | 43 Awe came upon everyone, because many wonders and signs were being done by the apostles.

ACTS 4:33 | 33 With great power the apostles gave their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all.

A third sign that encouraged the early disciples was the way the leaders of the movement stepped up. Remember that the 12 were reduced to 11 after Judas’ betrayal and that the event of the cross was so traumatic that Jesus’ chosen leaders were on permanent lockdown, afraid for their lives and certain that His movement was over. Forty days of Resurrection encounters with the risen Lord radically altered their outlook, birthing unstoppable confidence in His Lordship over life and death.

The early community was moved and convicted by their teaching and testimony, and marveled at the signs and wonders they performed. When challenged they showed great courage in confrontation with public officials.
