Your Church, God's World - Day 26
by David Joynt on November 15, 2018
JOHN 1:35-37 | The next day John again was standing with two of his disciples, and as he watched Jesus walk by, he exclaimed, “Look, here is the Lamb of God!” The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus.
One major factor determining our impact on others is enthusiasm. John the Baptist was excited about Jesus. He identified him, in a public way, as God’s Messiah. Here, in the Gospel of John, he identifies him as the Lamb of God, the one who will deal with the world’s brokenness and sin. As Christians, deliberately or unconsciously, we send a signal to others via our attitude. John was fired up about Jesus, sending his own disciples off to connect with him, and describing him with exclamation points.
Our excitement about Jesus must be more than intellectual. It is a by-product of our own experience of his goodness, grace, and direction.
Are you excited about Christ? About knowing and following him?
What stands in the way of your enthusiasm for Jesus?
