Presented by Senator Jon Kyl
Some people are fed up with what they perceive is a dysfunctional federal government, and propose the solution is to “streamline” the Constitution to force action. The structure of our Constitution can continue to enable us to govern ourselves, if we understand and follow it AND do so as our Founders intended, by conducting our affairs with civic virtue - that is, the commitment to the greater good, rather than narrow selfish purposes.
Bio: Jon Kyl served as a Congressman from Arizona from 1987-1995 and as a Senator from 1995–2013 and 2018. He was Senate Minority Whip from 2007 to 2013. Kyl earned bachelor’s (1964) and law (1966) degrees from the University of Arizona where he served as President of the Arizona Law Review. After being admitted to the state bar in 1966, he practiced at a Phoenix law firm for the next 20 years, before running for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
