A New Heart for the Valley Week 3, Day 5

AN INVITATIONAL HEART
Before healing the paralyzed man physically, Jesus forgives him and immediately comes under attack. His action is very insightful and very dangerous. In a culture where disability and disease are associated with divine disapproval, the man probably suffered with unwarranted guilt. By responding to this emotional burden, Jesus recognized and removed a significant impediment to wholeness. Since we are psychosomatic unities, our emotional and physical feelings are deeply connected. Dependence, the experience of being pitied or scorned, the frustration of immobility, the uncertainty of his status with God—they all impact this man’s identity and well being.
Healing is multi-dimensional. What kind do you most crave?
We are all called to forgive others—how is Jesus’ forgiveness here different?
FAMILY TIME
How do we know someone is emotionally and spiritually healthy (talk about their manner, their way of interacting, their attitude, etc.)?
