A New Heart for the Valley Week 4, Day 1
by David Joynt on March 11, 2018
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see god.”
Purity of heart is far more than the capacity we can have to avoid certain kinds of bodily deeds or mental pollutions. It is less about avoiding thoughts and actions than it is about the ability to have a singular, overriding purpose, a driving direction which unifies your whole life. Soren Kierkegaard, Danish Christian philosopher, called it being able to “will one thing.”
How pure is your heart, in the sense described above?
How easily can you stop in the midst of your active life and pray?
FAMILY LIFE
How well do the members of your family focus?
What inhibits our focus?
