A New Heart for the Valley Week 5, Day 4

A SINGLE HEART
The unity that Paul wanted to see in Corinth, that flowed from their shared devotion to Jesus and shared experience of the Spirit was sadly lacking. There were divisions around leadership and personality (see 1 Corinthians 1:10-17). There were property and financial disputes that led to court cases (see 1 Corinthians 6:1-8). There were even divisions during communion (!) (see 1 Corinthians 11:17-22). Meldenius’ formula addresses this kind of issue, encouraging us to distinguish matters we must agree on, the “essentials,” from matters where we should be tolerant of difference, the “non-essentials.” He also insists that in all matters we should practice charity, or what Paul calls the “still more excellent way.”
What is worth disagreeing over?
