A New Heart for the Valley Week 6, Day 4

A GENERATIONAL HEART

LUKE 19:30-34; 37-40

LUKE 18:31-34

Jesus’ elaborate arrangements for the donkey indicate clearly that he was not an accidental unwitting victim of a plot during Passover. He predicted his own death and understood how leaders would react to his dramatic entrance and cleansing of the temple, on top of the raising of Lazarus. Jesus was a willing sacrifice, not a hopeless victim. His choice of suffering rather than rebellion disappointed Jewish nationalists and the Passover crowd. He received the praises of the crowd and the Messianic salutes, and he described it all as completely in keeping with his true status. Even the rocks and the natural world should acknowledge his kingship. The adulation did not deter him from heading crossward.

Name three ways Jesus could have avoided the cross.
