Belong & Become, Week 2, Day 10

JOHN 14:17a | 17a This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him.
God does not force his way into human hearts. It is a divine limitation! If he were to coerce his entrance, he would undermine our freedom. This is not to say he is inactive in the lives of those who do not explicitly follow him. He acts creatively in shaping our DNA, providentially in the events and circumstances of our lives, and both psychologically and intellectually through our thoughts and feelings.
But he never manipulates, just as Jesus never manipulated or coerced. He only invites. When we invite him into our lives it opens a new dimension for his activity, we now can know him intimately, as we know our dearest friends. We can converse with him, recognize his voice, understand his words in scripture more clearly and see his action around us. Until we invite him we are blind to much of his activity and relate to him in a distant and less personal way.
What do you make of this verse?
Which side of the divide do you sit on?
