Belong & Become, Week 2, Day 8

JOHN 14:15 | 15 If you love me, you will keep my commandments.”
Some experiences “top out” quickly. You hire a personal trainer or start a fitness routine on your own and you move from unfit to fit. Soon your strength and cardio and flexibility plateau and gains are incremental at best. Olympic level fitness is a distant and essentially unattainable goal. You join a hiking club and do all the mountains in Arizona, loving the challenge and adventure. But the Himalayas are far away, a basically impossible dream, given your age, finances, and schedule. But the possibilities for spiritual fitness and adventure are unlimited, regardless of age, wealth and circumstance.
For example, one route to depth in our relationship with God is simple obedience. When we follow a command of Jesus we begin to grow and learn in that particular area, whether it is finances, speech control, forgiveness, prayer, or enemy love. The sense you will have at partnering with God will grow, along with your capacity for following. Obedient acts become obedient habits.
Have any of your activities ever “topped out”?
Are you obedient?
Without checking the Bible make a list of ten of Jesus’ commands. Now read Matthew 5-7.
